The Perfect Sandwich for Lent

I'll keep this short! I know everyone has a lot of blog reading to do today before the Lenten hush sets in over the Internet.

Here's a quick and delicious recipe for Lent, the perfect sandwich you can enjoy every single day in the season of purple:

The PRAYER sandwich.

Bread #1:

The Morning Offering

Start your day with a prayer that thanks God for waking you up. If you're breathing, that means God has a purpose for you today. (Snazzy vinyl Morning Offering clings and CDs are available at the Apostleship of Prayer!)

Bread #2:

The Evening Review

Take a few minutes each evening to reflect on how you and God worked together today. The goal of every single day is to help spread the Kingdom of God! How's that going? (Helpful Evening Review prayer cards and CDs are waiting for you!)

Yummy Insides:

Spiritual Communion

Whether or not you participate in the Mass every day, the Morning Offering unites everything you do with the Eucharistic sacrifice of Jesus. The God who knows every hair on your head is passionately interested in the tiniest details of your day. Living the "stuff" of the sandwich means connecting your prayers, thoughts, words, actions, joys, and sufferings to the sacrifice of Jesus. Our spiritual communion actually helps complete the work of Christ:

Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and fill up on my part that which is lacking of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church.  -Colossians 1:24

That's it! That's the simple, three-step approach of the Apostleship of Prayer. This "prayer sandwich" draws hearts closer to the Heart of Jesus. And when you become a member of the Apostleship of Prayer, you have an international prayer group of millions of people--including Pope Francis--to join you in prayer each day. Check out this post from a new member who encourages her readers to "Join the Apostleship of Prayer!" (Thanks, Lindsay!)

I'll close with Lindsay's heartfelt words:

If you’ve ever thought about joining a prayer group with no meetings, one membership requirement, and universal and eternal effect, join the Apostleship of Prayer. I’d love to have you with me.
